Dr. Grace F. Bransford, D.V.M.

Overview:

Dr. Bransford is proficient in all aspects of canine and feline medicine and surgery and has a special interest in small animal nutrition and oncology (cancer medicine). She received her undergraduate degree in Human Biology from Stanford University, and her Doctor in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 1998 from UC Davis. While attending the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, she also worked for Waltham Pet Foods as a student representative to the school. Dr. Bransford received additional training in oncology by completing an informal fellowship with the UC Davis Veterinary School Oncology Service. Her close ties to UC Davis continue to be an invaluable source of advice and mentoring in the state of the art of veterinary medicine.

Fulfilling Her Dream:

Prior to becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Bransford worked for 10 years in the advertising and marketing field. Becoming a veterinarian was a lifelong dream for Dr. Bransford, and in 1992 she left her advertising career to work on applying to veterinary school. After practicing as a veterinarian in Marin for a few years, Dr. Bransford joined the Ross Valley Veterinary Hospital in 2001 and acquired the hospital in 2004.

Additional Professional Accreditations and Recognition:

In addition to taking care of her patients and managing the practice, Grace has been actively involved in advancing the veterinary profession.
  • Dr. Bransford was the only non-faculty practicing veterinarian selected by the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine to serve on the 2008 Admissions Committee.
  • Dr. Bransford funds an annual scholarship award given to the most promising UC Davis vet school student specializing in radiation oncology.
  • She is active in both the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the California Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) serving on a number of councils and committees. She appears in AVMA's video "Veterinary Medicine: It's More Than You Think".
  • Grace performs volunteer work for the Marin Humane Society and serves on its Board of Directors.

Personal Background:

Dr. Bransford has lived virtually her entire life in Marin County. She currently resides in Mill Valley with Max (her adorable black Labrador who "works" as an official Greeter at the hospital) and her two tabby cats Gris and Tex (who are helping to train Max). Her personal interests include swimming, cycling, hiking with her dog, running, and horseback riding. She is a former figure skating and horse show competitor.
